Day 105

It's my new Becky Higgins Project Life Planner! It's so bright and colorful, I just love it! After work yesterday, I swung into Michael's and picked up the binder and kit, all at 50% off!  Perfect.  Then I spent last night putting in things like birthdays, events, and appointments - getting it all ready for use today. Now, I know that I'm mostly a digital or electronic girl, and having a binder you carry around seems counterintuitive for me.  But there's just something about Project Life - for me it needs organizing on paper. Somehow I need to see it at a glance I guess, and be able to jot things down here and there. I had carved out a section in my work planner for my blogging, scrapping and Project 365, but this is so much better!! Can't wait to really get to using my new 'toy'!!

Day 72

Guilty! I swung into the craft store again tonight. Well actually two stores...but this was my one great find. The Seasons Mini Kit half off!

Spring is just around the corner, and I've been wanting the Spring Themed Cards, but I'm going to have to order those online I'm afraid - can't find anyone that carries them in my one horse town. But in the mean time, I thought this Seasons Kit would do. Well, once I got it home and cracked it open, I was very excited! It had way more than I thought it would, and it's all coordinating and quite versatile! Can't wait to use some of them in a Project Life layout.

Project Life Week 7

I love this layout too...Week 7. These are my Valentine's Day pages, so I used the Valentine cards from the Holiday Mini Kit...all pinks and red...LOVE ♥♥♥

Project Life Week 6

This is probably my favorite week so far...Week 6. Because we had cold temps and snow this week, I ended up getting the Project Life Winter Themed Cards. I love the soft palette of pinks and greens, with hints of red and gold highlighting the bit of winter that finally landed in our little part of the world. And one week was all I needed...because winter was here and gone again just like that!

Project Life Week 5

Here is Week 5 finished...and another crummy picture! I sure need to figure out a way to capture the cuteness of my weekly layouts. The glare from the plastic, and the blur of edges, just not good. Hopefully Week 6 will be better!

Project Life Week 4

Here is my completed Week 4. At this point I feel like I'm starting to get into this and get the feel of scrapbooking Project Life style.  I went back to the Seafoam Kit (except my title card) again to complete this week. I embellished my week title card a little, added some stickers and even washi tape here and there.

Project Life Week 3

Alright, so I was only two weeks into this process and already got a little bored. I really like the Seafoam Core Kit, it just seemed like I needed a little bit more variety when choosing which cards to put where. I went to the Craft Warehouse and they were having a sale, so I picked up the Jade Core Kit, and used it for Week 3. I also used some the Dogs Themed Cards again, some Heidi Swapp chipboard letters to designate the week, and more Sn@p Letters and Stickers.

Day 59

So what is it that you do on a Friday night? Well this is what I do. The past couple Friday nights I have sat at the coffee table, while watching TV, and worked on my Project Life album. I really enjoy scrapbooking this way, because there are very minimal supplies needed...at least to get things organized and into the album. All you really need is your core kits, a paper cutter, a corner rounder, a pen and some adhesive. Embellishments can come later.

I generally start with writing my picture of the day on a post-it (a tip from Michelle Wooderson on catching up!), and tentatively applying them to the position where I think they'll go. Then I pick out my cards for the week. In this case I'm working on the week of Valentine's Day, so it was pretty easy...I just grabbed the Valentine's cards from the Holiday Mini Kit and started placing.

Can't wait to wrap up Week 7, and get it posted here on the blog!

Project Life Week 2

My first full week using Project Life. I used the Seafoam Edition again, with some Dogs Themed Cards. I used Thickers to designate the week, and more Sn@p Letters and Stickers, along with a couple from my stash. I feel like I'm still kind of getting my feet wet at this point...a pretty basic layout, even though that is the point of Project Life!

Project Life Week 1

When I started my Project Life at the beginning of the year, I vowed that taking photos of each week would NOT count towards a Picture of the Day. These would just have to be additional entries, made for fun after a week(s) was completed. I've taken several rounds of pictures of my first few Project Life pages, but none of them seem to come out very well. I think the sad truth is that my camera is dying a slow, painful death. I managed to capture a few in some relatively decent light, and so I'm just going for it. They are not high quality pictures by any means, and really don't do my pages justice. I think most of them have turned out pretty cute for a beginner!  None the less, here goes.

My first purchase was the Seafoam Edition Core Kit and Binder. Being a newbie (and somewhat obedient), I read Becky's tutorial on Setting Up a Project Life Album, so followed what she said. I even put the suggested cards in to create the cover. I added the year and each of our current ages, using Sn@p Letters. Then, before I actually got started with pictures, I bought the Holiday Mini Kit, and the Dogs Themed Cards. I used both in my Week 1 layout.

I used Thickers to identify the week, along with more Sn@p letters and stickers mixed in throughout.

Day 7

Look!  A quick stop at Hobby Lobby after work proved to be fruitful.

I've been searching the web looking for folks who post their Project Life layouts, and I've found some pretty good blogs to follow.  One of the things I've seen repeatedly has been a date stamp...yep, just the old fashioned kind you can roll up and down and stamp the date.  I like the way it looks, so I went hunting for one. I found a Dear Lizzy, and luckily all stamps were 50% off...score!

Also, I discovered that HL carries some of the Project Life stuff...not much, but a few things.  I found some themed cards for dogs.  Well...we all know there were probably be quite a few pup pictures throughout this year, so I grabbed those as well.  And, since it's been so very long since I've purchased product, I have yet to get into this whole Washi Tape business...so I grabbed a black and white chevron patterned one of those as well - to match my kit.  And, I just happened past a sticker sheet that I liked, all about faith, so I picked it up at 50% as well.

And did I mention I had a gift card...and only used about 1/2 of it...what a good shopper I am!  Just keeping the excitement and the momentum going...

Day 6

It came, it came!  I was so very excited to get a text from Rob this afternoon telling me a box from Amazon had arrived.  It was my Project Life order.  Just like any scrapper, new items cause near euphoria, but this...well this is a whole new world for me, so I couldn't wait to tear into that box and get EVERYTHING out to have a looksie. Now, to get busy putting it all together for 2014...Project Life Style!

Stay tuned for finished layouts, as I work my way through them, week by week.

Happy New Year!

It's a brand new year and here I am...trying my hand at Project 365 one more time.  In 2012, I made it somewhere deep into November I believe.  But 2013 was not just a failure...it was an epic failure.

Not to be defeated, I'm trying again but with some changes - live and learn I guess.  I want to take much of the pressure off of myself by thinking I have to have some original, and beautifully composed shot each day...you know, photography at it's finest - NOT!  Those shots are rare, which is what makes them great.  This is just supposed to capture everyday life.  So, being that my iPhone is my friend and is with me always, usually right in my hand or pocket, I vow to be alright with using it - even all 365 days if that's how it turns out.

And, the other change - that I am most excited about - is that I'm not just going to blog them, but I'm going to scrap them.  I will still blog a bit, but the descriptions may be short and sweet just to explain the photo, and keep those that are still interested in what the Auchmoody's are doing up to speed.  The exciting part (if you're a scrapper, you'll understand - otherwise insert yawn here) is that I ordered Becky Higgins' Project Life kit from Amazon yesterday.  Those kits came out in 2009, and I've toyed with the idea of doing one ever since, but just couldn't commit.  Well, I texted Rob yesterday and told him I wanted to do it, and he said go for it...order placed and on it's way!

So Happy New Year one and all.  2013 had some ups, but it had a lot of downs too.  I'm going to chalk it up to the 13 in 2013, and look forward to an AWESOME 2014!!  Bring it on world, I'm ready for it, and to document it all!!
