Day 139

Wow!  What a day...a good day...a good Friday off!

My sister-in-law Wendy is throwing my brother a 40th birthday party next month.  Shhhhh...it's a surprise!  One of the things she's doing is putting together a poster board with a couple photos of him that she will have on display at the party.  There will space for everyone to sign...then she plans to frame it for him as a keepsake.  She had talked to me about doing up some things on my Cricut to add to the poster board...like his name, and his 'motto'; "I may have to grow old, but I don't have to grow up".  The theme, of course, is western, with a red, black and white bandanna motif.

I decided today, come hell or high water I was getting this project done.  I even asked Mom to come over and keep me company...and on task.  I'm famous for seeing something shiny and moving on to something else.  Thankfully, Mom wasn't doing anything and did just that.  She was helpful in bouncing ideas around too, like size and color - and just made the day more fun.

When I was done, I put this lid down and laid out all of the pieces I made (obviously a little funky on a purple background!). Then quickly gathered them back up to get them out in the mail before the post office closed at 5:00.

It was fun to get to do something in my scrap space again...it was nice to spend the day with Mom...it was good to be doing something for someone else...and it was great not to work on my Friday off - at all!  Like I said...what a day!

Happy Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day is coming up quickly, and so far I only have two cards done. These are the two cards I made for my nieces Rachel and Kendra. I needed to get them done because they have the farthest to travel...all the way to Texas.

There are a couple other Valentine's pending in my head - I just have to get them made before I loose the ideas! So, hopefully there are more pics to come...

Camping Layouts

Another day of trying to clear the deck of unfinished layouts. These are three layouts from a camping trip well over a year ago. They really are better than the photos show...not the greatest quality. Glad to get the wrapped up and in my album anyhow.

Happy New Year!

It is that time of year again. Time to wipe the slate clean and make a fresh start. Lots of resolutions of starting and stopping...stop spending, stop eating, start exercising, etc., etc.

One of my resolutions is to spend more time doing what I love...scrapbooking. In an effort to organize my craft room and get that clean slate we are always chasing, I am starting with unfinished projects. I have many, many pages I have put together at crops, but have never added the journaling or put the 'finishing touches' on, and therefore they have not been added to albums. So...here I go, no more 'loose leaf' pages. Day One; Layout One.

Back to School Time

A few days ago, my mom asked me to make a couple cards for her. My nieces are headed back to school and she wanted to send them cards with some back-to-school fun money inside. I gave her these two cards this morning on my way to work, so she could get them off in the mail - those kids seem to go back to school early in Texas!

I hope Rachel and Kendra like their cards, and what's inside!!

40th Birthday Layouts

Here are two layouts I finished a couple weeks ago and never posted.

In December 2007, a large group of my friends all headed to Troutdale, OR to McMenamin's Edgefield to celebrate Fred and Troy both turning 40 (within about a month of each other).

Best Fishes

May seems to bring quite a few birthdays. Today one of my co-workers, John, celebrated his birthday. He's a fishin' sort of fella, so I thought this would work for him. This wasn't at all what I had pictured in my head when I started, but in the end, I was pretty happy with how it turned out. The greeting inside says 'Best Fishes'.

Happy Valentines Day!

Here are a couple cards I tried to quickly put together today. Hours later I am finally done...good thing Valentines Day is all day long :)
I wish you all Hugs and Kisses on this Valentines Day!
